Born in Iraq, Aysar Ghassan lives and works in the West Midlands. His poems have been published, or are forthcoming, in Magma, Under the Radar, The Washington Square Review, Abridged, Critical Survey, The Arsonist and Zarf, and are anthologised in Diversifly (Fair Acre Press) and Writing Lives Together (University of Leicester’s Centre for New Writing). Aysar was shortlisted in the Leeds Peace Poetry Competition, 2018, and has recently been a poet in residence at Journeys with ‘The Waste Land’—an exhibition of visual art responding to T.S. Eliot’s poem—at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry.
